Watchlist¶
FactSet’s Watchlist section is a real-time monitoring workspace for user-defined groups of securities, combining quote tables, technical charts, news, filings, transcripts, and company-level updates in a single view. It is designed to help users follow a focused universe of names, compare live performance, and quickly move from price action to underlying news and documents.
Watchlist section of FactSet provides the following data:
- Watchlist Table — The main table tracks a custom list of securities with live or delayed market fields such as last price, absolute and percentage change, volume, year-to-date return, dividend yield, market capitalization, EPS, and valuation ratios, allowing quick side-by-side monitoring of multiple names.
- Security Identification — Each row ties market data to a specific instrument using ticker, company name, exchange context, and FactSet’s internal security identifiers, which support linking into other FactSet applications.
- Sorting and Ranking — The table can be sorted by price change, volume, market cap, valuation, or other displayed fields, turning the watchlist into a quick ranking tool for relative performance and screening.
- Selected Security Snapshot — When a name is selected, FactSet shows a focused quote summary for that security, including current price, bid/ask, open, high, low, volume, valuation fields, and selected trading statistics.
- Price Chart — The chart panel displays historical price performance for the selected security over user-defined horizons, supporting visual trend analysis directly inside the watchlist workspace.
- Technical Overlays — The chart can include technical indicators such as moving averages and volume, helping users interpret momentum, trend direction, and trading activity without leaving the page.
- Headline Feed — The lower news panel surfaces the latest headlines related to the selected company or watchlist, combining real-time market commentary and company-specific developments.
- StreetAccount Themes — FactSet integrates StreetAccount content to provide structured market-moving news, broker commentary, and concise bullet-style updates tied to the securities in the watchlist.
- Company Releases — This subsection captures official company announcements such as press releases, guidance updates, investor communications, and other issuer-generated disclosures.
- Earnings — The watchlist can surface earnings-related content, including release headlines, earnings-call timing, results summaries, and related company updates.
- Events & Transcripts — FactSet links event-driven materials such as conference calls, investor presentations, and transcripts, helping users move from headline reaction to fuller management commentary.
- Filings — The workspace gives access to regulatory filings and related company documents, allowing users to connect market moves with formal disclosures.
- Initiating Coverage — This area highlights research-coverage initiations and similar broker activity that may influence sentiment around the watchlist names.
- Alerts and Monitoring Workflow — Because the watchlist combines quotes, charting, and news in one layout, it functions as a live monitoring dashboard for focused coverage of portfolios, sectors, or custom baskets of securities.
