LSEG Workspace¶
LSEG Workspace (formerly Refinitiv Eikon / Thomson Reuters Eikon) is a financial data and analytics platform provided by the London Stock Exchange Group. It offers real-time and historical data on equities, fixed income, commodities, foreign exchange, and more, along with news, analytics, and screening tools.
Limited Availability
LSEG Workspace is available exclusively to master's students of Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.). Bachelor's students and students from other departments are not eligible.
We have a limited number of LSEG accounts. Access is granted on a weekly basis and allocated first come, first served. First time users have priority to those who have already used LSEG. Plan ahead — waiting times may apply.
Each slot runs from Tuesday morning to Monday morning (exact times may vary).
How to Get Access¶
Step 1: Check with Your Supervisor¶
Before requesting access, confirm with your thesis supervisor that the data you need is actually available on LSEG Workspace. Consider checking WRDS, FactSet, or our other data sources first — your data may be available elsewhere without a waiting period.
Step 2: Send a Request by Email¶
Send an email to financedata.use@uu.nl to request access. You (the student) must send this request yourself. Include the following information in your email:
- Full name
- Email address
- Student number
- Supervisor
- Study programme
You can not reserve for a specified week of your favor. Which means, if you request access, you would be in line for the upcoming week only. Be sure to send an application when you really need and can access the database.
Step 3: Receive Your Weekly Slot¶
You will be assigned a one-week access slot running from Tuesday morning to Monday morning (exact times may vary). You will be notified which week you are scheduled for.
- Allocation is first come, first served
- Licence changes are processed manually and take approximately 24 hours, which is why each slot runs from Tuesday morning to Monday morning
Step 4: Need More Time?¶
After your week ends, you may request an additional week. However:
- You can only request a new slot after your current slot has ended
- First-time users always have priority over returning users
